Default Why Borla

I have heard a lot of times that Borla is a good exhaust to get for our audis. But borla makes the pipes 2.25" wide

Dont you want an exhaust that is 2.5" wide? does it really matter?

I plan on getting a new turbo, so what size exhaust should i get and from who?

Thanks a lot

if you go BT you'll want 3" exhaust. if your just staying with a k03 or k04 borla will be fine

I have a 97 A4 1.8TQ (stock turbo) and I'm looking at the 2.25" Borla from AWE vs. the 2.5" kit from Techtonics that uses the Borla mufflers. I'm looking for gains plus a nice low rumble that's not too loud to attract attention. Which will be quieter?

TT wants $225 just for the 2.5" downpipe. Any recomm's for a cheaper stainless alternative?

Also considered saving a couple hundred and going with the VW Neuspeed via Modacar.com but searches seem to suggest it'll be loud. Input?

Thanks...

I went Miltek, Looks stock and sounds good.... I am real happy with it. I have a K04 also and seems to do the job just fine. Just had a dyno and i'm at 300ft/tq and 265hp... I'll post the dyno run later tonight

I went full borla cat back. I like it. I t sounds stock but when you get on it it gets nice and deep. Not crazy loud either but it sounds like muscle not just exhaust like a lot of cars do. I also have a high flow cat so Im not sure if that makes is sound different. I always wanted to hear others in person but never could and settled borla after putting up a poll here and having borla win.

Regardless of whether I go 2.25" AWE Borla or 2.5" Techtonics Borla, I want the full catback exhaust. From the AWE website:
"Borla Cat Back Exhaust
A Best Seller!
+ 15 hp
Deep tone, No resonance
For all A4 quattro
Classic rolled edge tips
Full Stainless Steel"
Does anyone know if both Borla mufflers on the Techtonics kit are non-resonated too? I haven't heard back from TT yet...

lol nice caps.

just tips...3 inch is way over done for anyone without a BT

2.5" is a bit big for k03, acceptable for a k04

if u get a 2.5" kit with borla mufflers, make sure the mufflers are true 2.5" and not 2.25" with upsizers becuase that would defeat the whole purpose of a 2.5"
remember. back pressure is our friend, to an extent. you will lose most low end power if u run a straight pipe or too big of pipes

a teacher at my school bought an old 69 camaro i believe pushing 800 wheel HP. it used 3.5 inch pipeing with an engine 3 times ur size and 4 times as powerful
