Wife driving audi=need turbo timer
Ok... This is the last straw... After telling her for 8 months to let the ****** cool down for a min or 2 after driving, she still cant remember to do it. I am sick of watching her pull in and turn it off right away and me flipping my lid because of it. I understand that hooking up a turbo timer in the a4 is somewhat complicated because of the imobileizer etc. Does ANYONE know of a more simple DIY for hooking one up other than this?: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec.html
Has anyone done this with success?? All you turbo timer owners out there speak up on your experience please!!
Its either this, or high blood pressure meds.... [:@]
Or divorce... JK!

I hear ya, Fiancee trys to do the same thing. Do you live in the burbs? I find that after driving on the highway then about 2-3 minutes of light driving into the burbs to get to our house then just sitting in the car for like 30-45 seconds is probably enough. Or so I have been told.
no she doesnt drive it REAL hard.. Not as hard as I do... But with summer coming its more on my mind lately.. I live in the burbs, but her drive home from work is 90% highway, and then a few mins light driving, so maybe i wont worry so much, but damn.. Maybe its just the principle of me asking her to do something multiple times per week and her not doing it. I do like the idea of a turbo timer though, especially for hot weather.
turbo timer is good for the track due to the punishment of the turbo in high performance conditions, on the road regardless of times it will have no effect but I understand what your saying and nothing to worry about
on the modern cars from 1996/2000 the timer/cooler was integrated to eliminate this problem so no worries on that, they had to be fitted to of road because of the performance issue nothing more
Well after being chipped the turbo temps are a lot higher, and seeing the glowing turbo after a spriited drive isnt reassuring. I would think a turbo timer/letting it cool for a couple mins after stopping would help because letting the oil cirulate while it cools down is a good idea. I know the way i typed it doesnt make much sense, but you know what im trying to say.. too lazy to correct my grammar etc. Stock is one thing, but with the chip, 20 psi creates a HELL of a lot more heat than 5-7psi. dont you think that the turbo gets hot enough to practicaly boil the water/oil inside of it, and that it IS a good idea to let it idle for a couple mins to keep fluids circulating through it and cool down???
After reading avant802.6's recent post on 02 sensors, i dont even know why i defended my explanation on what a turbo timer is good for.. What a waste of finger effort on my end.. ANYWAY... yeah.. my wife saw this post and had a hissy fit and was about to type you guys a real friendly post regarding this matter.. Anyway, after some yelling and struggling with the lap top like 2 dogs and a T bone, i got my way, and i think ill be getting a turbo timer and follow the DIY from audiworld. If anyone else thinks its a waste of time or money or that my theory on the situation is off, please let me know!

] man that sucks.. but, is she really driving the car that hard in the boost?
