Currently my car is under warranty and I desperately need to put money into it, so my options are limited. I have decided to put some black 18s on my 01 Black a4. First off, I would like to understand this from a performance standpoint. Since the only reason I cannot tweak the engine is due to my warranty, I sure as hell do no want to make it any worse. So will 18s make me lose a lot of power? Also, I know there have been a bunch of posts about black wheels, but, does anyone know where I can get wheels AND tires for under a grand?

18s will make a difference in performance, not much but a little. When i put my wheels on, 18's, it didn't feel like i lost anything. If anything it felt like i gained a little cause now i don't spin as much in first when i get near redline, im frontrak not quattro btw. Thats mainly the tires being wider and stickier though. I dunno about 18" wheels and tires for under a grand. Maybe used, try searching audiworld, audizine and vwvortex's classifieds.

 

there will be a olot of road noise added along with the low profile tires needed on the 18's....it starts to humm at highway speeds

 

i got my wheels with tires at wheelsourceusa.com and it was about 980 for them with wheels tires and shipping. their silver 18s. they also have black ones. i love em. ill post some pics when i get a chance

 

quick question, I really like my 16" audi stock wheels for now until i get some other rims........can i pu them on low profile tire or will it look dum or will the ride feel bad?

 

its going to look dumb unless you have a suspension upgrade and lower your car a lot

 

If you get lightweight 18s it wont, like the asa a1rs.
