I'm trying to diagnose the intermittenly blinking lights and not working speedo on my 1999 a4 (not 1999.5) I want to replace the speedo but was wondering if the ones from 2000 and up would fit or do just the 1999 ones work for me. Will the conectors fit? Obviously I want one that is newer not one that has alot of miles on it already. ( Getting a used one) Thanks

 

I could be totally wrong but I think they are different?

 

2000-2001 was a big change over year. If I had to take a guess I would say no. But im not positive

 

1999 and 1999.5 have different mechanisms for throttle - DBW and DBC. This may pose a problem with the Spedo, but I'm not entirely sure.

 

Actually im pretty sure they will swap right over

 

I know they look just alike other than the center info screen - the newer ones have a digital display while the older ones have just light up squares. What I'm asking is will the connectors in the back fit and will it work the right way even if it does. Thanks

 

So half of you are saying that you're pretty sure they will fit and some of you are saying that they won't. How do I find out for sure? I don't want to buy a speedo and find out that it doesn't work. Where can I find out for sure? Thanks

 

It will fit and everything except the center thing would work but i think there is a way to rewire the car so it does work but its alot of work
