Michigan
4 inches / 4 inches / ANY / ANY / 198x
Note : Changes to the law has been discussed such as allowing for 35% tint on the front side windows but the State Police would push hard for a complete ban on tint if it got through and they have the political power to do it.
Enforcement Note : Michigan State police will give the 3rd degree look to any car that is not in compliance with MI tint law but will usually leave out-of-state motorist alone.
I also went to Factory Tinit in Grand Rapids for an estimate and they told me that 35% was legal all around, along with Tech Audio in Grand Haven.
Planning on getting 35% all around installed in the begining of the summer, black interior.

RE: window tint
Are tint shops able to put on a 30% film? I know they have 2.5, 5, 20, and 30 - anyone know if they have any other percentages of tint?
Would be nice have 30% all the way around then 50-60% on the front windshield. Nothing too extreme.

ny laws are as follows:
rear windows any darkness... front windows 70% visibility (which corresponds to 30% darkness)
but this is also from the factory, technically if it wasnt from the factory is isnt legal.
ive been to court for it for my brothers tint before and had the law read to me.

Wow my state (New York) doesn't seem to allow ANY tints at all. Consider yourselves lucky.

nevermind...
yeah, i knew ny law allowed nothing in front...i just misread your post and got surprised.
yeah, from factory, anything's legal.
audi needs to start doing 35% all around straight from factory.
