Windshield broken from tinting?!?
I have a friend who brought in his late 90's car for tinting.
He asked the shop if it was safe to tint an older car and they said they was no problem with doing that.
About an hour into the tinting... the unthinkable happens:
The glass cracks.
The tinter says that probably the glass was detailed in the past and that the improper use of a glass buffer weakened the glass to a point where it broke.
Is that even possible?
Anyone with similar experiences please comment. If he's lying I'm going to advise him to sue.

sounds like BS to me - unless they can prove that this was not something that they did then it should be their responsibility to replace to broken glass. It would be like brining in your car to get worked on and they had to remove the headlight and the headlight broke. Oh, it wasn't me it was the one armed man. Bull$hit
Well, the tinter said it broke because of improper buffing on the windshield.
Also, I was told that the tinter used a small cutter in cutting a space for the rear view mirror. Perhaps this nicked the glass? Afterwards, a heat gun was used to bond the tint to the glass. Maybe this expanded the crack.
I would upload pics of them but there seems to be something wrong with the server. I can't upload any pics.

upload them onto an image hosting site ie... image shack, photobucket etc..
then use the [img] [/img] code to post them here..
even with a very harsh buffing i wouldnt imagine it would structurally damage the windsheild..
if you buffed it that much the glass would most likely be distorted

i had that problem but the tinter told me what happen. and i bet this is the same on your friends car if it a audi the rear view mirror is twisted on like a half of a turn of a screw the tinter tried poping it off with a screwdriver and crack the window. then he had a windshield installer come out and showed him how to take it off.
