Default Winter Tires!??

Suggestions needed. This is my first winter with my B6 1.8t Quattro. I have a sports package (17's sport tires etc.) My question is do i need to get winter tires. The reason why im asking is because i dont want to wreck my sport/slicker tires. If i do need winter tires do u suggest getting a smaller wheel 15/16? since i think 15 is stock for b6 a4s, or i should just pop the tire on the existing 17.
Thanks

i put Michilin Pilot Alpin's on my 17" sport pkg. RS4 wheel and still feel like a tank in the snow..

keep the factory wheels on, just get 17" snow's and have the rubber rotated out twice a year

I just got a set of blizzack snows for my B6 and they look bad ***.
the only problem is that you shouldent put them on untill its real cold or they will burn down fast.

Yeah blizzaks are good.... this topic was covered no more than 2 weeks ago.

I'd go 16's, just to avoid having tires put on and off your wheels twice a year... hard on the wheels. Hard on the wallet. Hard on time.

if you call around it's easy to find even a small mechanic's shop that can mount/balance a set of tires for 15-20 a tire..

100 bucks & a half hour... i can afford that

Meh, 100 bucks twice pays for the steel wheels.

ANd wheels that have been whored around like that... tires on and off so many times, can start to get little knicks and ****. And if you have the steels, you can do it all at home. Summers off, winters on. Takes about 45 minutes. No appointments, no money... Meh. Just my opinion.
