Default Wipers

On my 2002 A4 B6 the wipers moves much slower than they're supposed to. I get the same slow speed on all wiper settings, other than that, they move in a smooth manner.

Any ideas on what to check?

No trouble starting, so I doubt it's the battery.

OK, now the wiper is almost dead. It just twitches a little when i flip the switch (on all switch settings).

I know there is a relay, but isn't this only for the intermittent setting?

Is there a separate control unit for the motor, or do I need to replace the whole wiper motor assembly (damn thing costs 480$ over here)?

oh, and this is URGENT! The weather forecast says rain for the weekend.

I spoke to some guy at Audi, and he said it probably was the wiper arm linkage seizing up.

After some googling I found this is quite a common problem (on the B5), so I'll have a look at it when I get home.

I also did some research and its definitely a source of the problem, grease the parts well

I had that same problem in my 2003 A4. My wipers would crawl across my windshield and sometimes even get stuck and stop moving completely. Mine is still under warranty so I took it to the dealer. They had to replace the windshield wiper motor and then everything worked fine. I now have super speedy fast wipers. I also had them replace the wipers themselves too. I don't know how much it cost since I didn't pay for it. But I would assume you are having the same problem as me.

The damn thing broke when i tried to disassemble it. Tthe thread part on the wiper bolts cracked on both sides.

I tapped them out just far enough to use a flywheel puller, but I had to use A LOT of force (and WD40), so the bolts cracked and bent.

Does anyone know if the partnumber 8E1955023B (boschnr. 3397020516) is just the wiper arm assembly, or is the motor included?

Part number to fix this is 8E1955603D (For A4 B6).
It's the pipe section with the wiper-arm shaft/bearings on each end. Motor and struts has to be re-used.

The replacement i got had o-rings and an additional protection cap on each wiper arm shaft, so i hope this one will last a bit longer than the first one.
