Default Wood Trim

My 1997 A4 2.8 Quattro has the optional extra wallnut / wood trim. Thsi is fine i guess if you are a middle / late aged man and enjoy this kind of thing.

I am 25 though, and i love the car, but this is the only thing I hate about it.

I noticed a lot of it seems to be just stuck ontop of the standard carbon look trim. Can i safely remove it, or is ther ea good risk I will cause damage ?

whats the best way to remove it ? which parts can i remove ? all of it, or just the long pieces, the part around the AC controlls and stereo dont seem to be stuck on top of carbon trim like the rest of it is.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

can we get pics?!? it shouldnt be covering cf trim or it'd be aftermarket... I love the woodgrain in my car and I am only 21.... different people have different tastes, but I think it adds a nice little touch to the interior.

its a trim kit. they are adhesive backed pieces of material that were put over the stock pieces. And that material is not cf it is some silver material. I believ to get it off you would have to pull the oem pieces off and pretty much go throught the same steps as debadging , no fun if you want a different lok when your done with that try this. they overlay the whole piece http://www.exoticwooddash.com/coating.asp

Its definately aftermarket, I have woodgrain in my car, except it doesn't go over the ashtray, and thats how I could tell in your pictures, you can see it sticking out from the ashtray.
