i own a 98 v6 30vavle roughtly 190k miles and while i was driving to vegas few weeks ago i hit a rock on the road which broke my oil pan and i was driving without oil for a while until the light came on. the car stalled right after i pulled over and had it towed away. first thing in the morning i took it to my mechanic and had the pan replace with fresh oil put in. problem started after that, car does not start, it cranks but does not turn on. i was told that three of my ignition coil must be replace. could this be one of the problem that running without oil can cause? i am not sure how long i ran without oil but it was the point were the oil light came on. i dunno if i should replace them or sell the car, any suggestions? this would help me a lot and save me a lot of money.

 

Could just be a coincidence and explain why the car stalled. I don't think they are that expensive to replace

 

sounds ceased almost...is it actually turning over...or do you just hear the starter clicking?

 

dude i hope u didnt run for long...my friend had a similar problem and he ran it without oil for like 3 days and his engine is all shot up inside. it still works but huge power loss...good luck... the ignition coils are not expensive. the engine might be in safe mode and to take it out u have to put the key in the on position for about 3 min and you'll hear the throttle body adjust, then completely turn the key. good luck.

 

engine does turn over but it wont start. would the coils causing this? what is the ignition coil exactly? thanks

 

this sounds like an ignition problem, the engine is definitely not seized
