I doubt all this work was necessary. I get my oil changed ever 10K mi. using Mobil 1 0W-40 with filter $40. Change spark plugs with NGK platinums every 40K mi. Change air filter every 40K mi. Change pollin filter ever 30K mi. Paid $709 for the timing belt and water pump at 84K mi. Wheel bearing went at 84K mi and cost $235. I added R134a for $25 at 86K mi. The dealer gave me new brake pads at 50K mi. Replaced tires at 53K mi.

just think if you could have put all that money into modding your car instead of fixing it... []

the eBay vag readers have a bad rep... but whatever.

To who said they change their oil every 10K with mobil 1... should bump it up to every 5K dude... with the sludge issues on the 1.8T's... doesnt make sense to stretch out the oil changes.

And before anybody jumps at me about synthetic lasting longer... spare me, I know... but it's still much better practice to change your oil every 3 - 5 K AND use synthetic... means your car has great oil, all the time. I change mine every 5K kilometers... which is like... 3100 miles. I use royal purple synthetic, but once this case is gone, moving to either castrol syntec or mobil 1.

Headshock - My car uses standard oil. I'm ready to switch to synthetic at my next oil change. I don't need to do anything special to switch right?
