wow today i went to circuit city to install my new infinity speakers. when they called me at home they said that the speakers dont fit. WTF, im so Fing pissed off, i bought 5.25' speakers for the front doors and 6' for the rear. 4' speakers can fit the front but nothing can fit the rear deck because the bottom part of the speaker enclosure is square, WTF soo damn gay. so now i most likely have to get custom work in the back which will cost me a $hit load. now has any1 here had this problem?

Did you check to see if these would fit?

Try crutchfield for size of speakers that fit. In addition you will likely need adapters (not that expensive either)

 

ya man, best buy and circuit city have a reference book that says MY audi can fit 6' in the back and 5.25' in the front but u know thats just complete bull$hit cuz the real sizes are way off

 

ya i also looked at crutchfield, they are probably more accurate but idk, and now im skeptical about buying anymore speakers

 

As I recall (and I haven't looked in a year) Crutchfield says 4 inch font and 5.25 back at least for B5

 

If any member in this forum has a 2001 fwd 1.8t, has any1 upgraded their speakers to give me some guidance on what i should do now

i looked on crutchfield and i found the same speakers but they are 6.5'. they may work im just worried about the bottom part that is square

 

yes i just installed my infinity kappas in the rear deck and had the same problem ... if i were you ... do it yourself .. atleast the rear deck .... its sooo easy and saves money .... but yes it is square so they will not push down into the hole like the stock ones doo ... i just put them in as far down as they went ( the kappa series 6inch is bigger then the refrense ) and then bought long enough screws that went from my speaker to the screw holes on the sheetmetal .... and then put some sound dampener around where the speakers touches the frame ( to stop any vibrations ) ... your speakers can extrude from the hole a long ways ! ... the cover that goes over it that has the rear brake light will allow the speaker to go up into where the speaker covers are ... if that made any sense to you i'd try it .... i cant afford to have someone cut holes nor do i want to cut a bigger hole in my car so thats how i did it ... i have a 98 a4 just to make sure we are talkin to same stuff
