2001 A4 1.8T Quattro

When I turn it on, the car stutters. It starts up, but then fades down, then starts up, then fades down like its going to die. Repeat 4 or 5 times, then it dies.

If I shift to Drive or Reverse and hold the brake down, it turns stops stuttering and the engine sounds normal, although theres a strange sound from the left side of the engine. Sounds like air is seeping through something, like the sound of someone slashing your tires and your air is being sucked out.

I tried to pull it on the street and see if it would drive. Any pressure on the gas makes it stutter and then die.

I smell gas mostly. The car hasn't been started in a few weeks and was very low on gas, so i filled up 2 gallons.

Last maintence I did was 2 weeks ago, I swapped out my old aftermarket airfilter housing for a stock one I bought, and connected everything with a mechanic friend of mine. It worked after the swap out fine, about 3 days ago.

Can anyone help me?
