Automatic Gearbox Failure on A5
Hello,
I am facing some serious problems with the automatic gearbox of my Audi A5 2.7 Coupé. The car is from 2008 with a total mileage of 140 000 km. It has been fully maintained by Audi with regular check-ups.
I was driving quietly (90 km/h) in D mode when the incident happened. All of a sudden, it started loosing power. Pressure on the accelerator would result in a rise in rpm on the board without any effect on transmission and the car quickly lost its speed. I pulled down on the side of the road until it got immobilized.
The following error message appeared on the board : "gearbox malfunction: you can continue driving (limited functionality)" as displayed on the attached picture.
I tried with the S, D, R modes. I switched on/off several times. There was nothing I could do to make the car move. So the only option was to send the car to Audi for repair. It is now being diagnosed.
Has anyone ever come across this problem ? Any feedback on what may have caused this major malfunction would be most appreciated.
Looking forward to your replies.

Same error message appeared at 48,00 but resets until 54,000 miles. Now on all the time with chime.
Car is Audi CPO and dealer says the sensor needs to be replaced at my expense. $5500. No interest in honoring the CPO trans, since it's a sensor (not mechanical). They charged me $350 to diagnose the g676 code.
If Audi doesn't pay to fix, I will never buy Audi again, and will send out to the world how Audi honors its CPO customers.
