I have scoured the WWW trying to get a solution to this problem

My Car....1999 Audi A6 (C5) Quattro 2.8 liter non-turbo w/ Tiptronic

Problem.... My 8 year old boy spilled a Sprite in the shifter last week which leaked under the bezel. From what I understand, this can mess up the shifting of the car. My car will now jolt a little when going in R and D (when in auto) but will run perfect through 4th. 1,2,3,4 runs fine w/ a little higher RPM's than normal. At 70mph the RPM's will be right at 4,000, whereas, it used to be around 28-3000 RPM's. It will not shift into 5th at all!
Tried......i took the shift column off the other day to see if there was some debris lodged but there wasn't. i did notice that the magnet for the Tip had fallen off, which i have in my ashtray now.


The stealership has offered to "loan" me a car for $98/hour but it's a '99 so the labor would probably be more than the car itself.

Can anyone please help me?
