i own a 2000 audi a6 4.2 and when i hit the gas it will only rev to about 1 1/2 RPMS but if i hold my foot on the gas a turn the car on and off a few times it will rev as high as i want it too. meaning i can drive it. anyway i could fix this? the coad is p1568 also has check engin light esp and trac lights on

 

Brake lever switch. Check your brake lights, I bet they are out. When the switch fails, the car goes haywire, well known issue. Switch is about $15 and you can do it yourself, its the switch under the brake pedal. The voltage differential changes and the drive system goes haywire. Make sure you adjust the switch and install properly, there is a specific proc. If I remember right you have to depress the pedal while installing, then when the pedal returns it sets the depth on the brake sensor plunger. I'd google the procedure to be sure.

You may even get codes on the ABS system failing, etc. It all revolves around this little, black, $15 switch failing.

 

Thank you for you input on this. i checked the break lights they are working. Could it be something els you know of? We now have the throttle body off its getting power it just wont move. Its like its stuck but i have cleaned it inside and out. My friend and i were msssing with it yesterday and he would push down on the TB while my foot was on the gas then it would start working without help. Once id shut off the car and try it again it wouldnt do anything

 

My father cleaned the TPS with elertonic cleaner and it fixed the prob! now the only coad i have is p1333 and i cant find anything on it.
