Default 01 Audi A6 2.7T

2 Weeks ago i bought my first Audi, and i have to say that i love it, everything about it, the speed, the confort, steering everything is suprb as far as i can see. Since i bought it used there were a few things that had to be fixed, that the dealer passed on the cpo inspection, but they fixed it, no problem. My question is, while my car was at the stealership i was given a 03 a4 1.8t, not a big fan, no spamming please nice car but different car then an a6, the tiptronic allowed the a4 to stay in 1st gear until you switched, my a6 will atomatically switch from 1st to 2nd very quickly, probably around 2k rpm, also i cannot down shift to first until like the last moment before stopping, is this common since the a6 may be considered more of a luxery vehilce as apposed to performace, or is this an issue tyhat my cpo needs to be aware of. TIA

Ouch you really shouldn't downshift to first any way its really hard on the drivetrain to go to such a low gear

I think it's normal. My A6 does it. It seems to be computer controlled, and limited by RPM. It won't let you shift up if your RPMs are too low, or down if the RPMs are too high.

Check out audiworld.com There is a simple reprogamming trick that will allow you to hold 1st to redline in "Tip" mode only. Search for "00032 mod". Any independent shop should be able to do it in a matter of minutes.

Yeah, thats normal, my dads ls does that too. On his, you have to press the gas over 60% and it will downshift to first from there on. When you come to a complete stop it resets and you have to do it all over again.
