Is it normal for the car to be so loud--alomst like a deisel--when driving around the City? Understand that it is over 100 degrees in Memphis right now so it might be putting a strain on the car but it really sounds like a truck more than a luxury car.

Anyone else have this issue?

 

What engine do you have? If it's 3.0 they're noisy.

 

I do have a 3.0L engine. It is extremely noisy and sometimes sounds like it aon't going to make it. The guy at the dealership tells me that is normal with that engine and not to worry.

 

Mine does the same.

 

hmmm I dont think its normal at all its should be as smooth as, its a luxuary car and the silence is what your paying for

 

Yeah my 3.0l quattro is not really noisy while driving in the South Florida heat. Only at the start.

 

So it seems like the "small" consensus here is that it shouldn't be so loud? What other options do i have if the dealership says it is normal and there is nothing they can do about it? I agree that I am paying for this luxury car and it shouldn't sound like a Mack truck!!

 

What is the sound like? Take it to specialized VW/Audi shops if theres any around your area. Keep getting opinions from different people, just like you would if you went to the hospital and the doctor says you have nothing but your certain something is wrong with you.

 

While I am driving it around the engine sounds very loud and you can hear the fan from the engine extremely loud. Really sounds a lot like a high pitch "whine" is the best way to describe it I guess.

 

What if you turn off your A/C ? Does it still do the sound?
