03 Audi A6 3.0 Jerks into reverse
I have a 2003 Audi A6 3.0 that sometimes, not more than once a week and I drive it every day, jerks when I put it into reverse. It jumps about three or four times and then goes into gear. It does not do this in any other gear and besides a little hesitation when I put my foot on the gas from a stopped position, I am guessing that it just the gears kicking in, there are no other signs of any tranny problems. I think there is a belt instead of the traditional gears. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Please help because this is my first Audi and I LOVE the car. Thank you.

Is it FWD? If so then you have the CVT tranny which uses belts...about the jerking: mine does it as well but only if I'm in a hurry and put it in reverse too quickly after I start the car.

Ive seen this problem a few times and unfortunatly whether cvt or automatic there is something mechanical inside the trans that causes the failure, which results in a new trans being installed. My best advice, Use reverse as little as possible to conserve the life of your reverse gear.

If you are still interested in this issue, I had a 1993 Saturn that did the same thing. Ihad the Saturn dealershiptake a look at it to see what the problem was and theytold me that one of the transmission gaskets were bad. This may be that case with you.
