'04 S4 or '08 A6???
Hi All. Newbie here.
I'm shopping for my 1st Audi and I'm stuck between a '04 S4 with 68K miles for $20K or a '08 3.2 A6 with 15K miles. The S4 is a stick, black/black in great shape and the A6 grey is in like new condition. I've always wanted the S4 but the miles and no warranty scare me a bit compared to the more conservative A6 with a warranty. Please help me make the decision. Thanks very much in advance. -Bill

You have to make your own decisions in life. Drive them both. Interior and trunk size may be factors if you have a family or plan one. If it's only you and a passenger, the A4 is probably adequate. I like the size of my daughter's A4 over my A6, but not if I have to stick the family in the car with luggage for a trip.
Do you prefer sporty and enjoy the twisties, or more luxury and the ability to cruise all day at high speeds in comfort?
You'll probably find quality higher on the newer A6 as I have watched the rating for Audis rise in general starting with 04-05 models according to Consumer's Reports.
It never hurts to have an independent shop check the vehicle thoroughly, even if it costs you a few bucks. If they find anything, generally you can negotiate the price down to cover the repairs and the cost of the inspection.
