Hi guys-

My CEL is coming on due to a vaccum leak. Can someone please explain what the hell this means exactly? How much to get it fixed on average?

I have a stupid smog check I need to get done before I pay my ridiculous $490 vehicle registration renewal for dumb California and I'm wondering if the car will fail the smog check if the check engine light is on for this vaccum leak??

Your car will not pass California Emissions Test with CEL on. Not only that, you car's readiness code needs to set before it will pass.

As for the vacuum leak, it could be as simple as damaged vacuum line or related components. Do you know which code number you are getting?
