08 Audi A6 3.2 Rough start at times??
Hey guys, I am new here and to the Audi world, I have an 04 VW Touareg before and traded it in on a 08 Audi A6 3.2 S line Silver in color and have the Premium package and the cold weather package, Kind of wish I had the Tech package but oh well. Anyway I am new to the V6 world also since all of my previous cars have been V8's. I don't know if this is normal with the audi V6 3.2 but sometimes when I start the car it kind of shakes the car almost like jumpy, almost as if the motor kicks a little then once she is started she is smooth as a kitten, I was kind of worried if this is something wrong it just kind of shakes the car a little bit when I turn the ignition to start it. Is there anything wrong with this? The car was a CPO car so hopefully there is nothing wrong and everything has been checked. Hopefully any times or anything in owning a Audi A6? Thanks for any help you guys may be able to give or is this normal with the 3.2?

The MMi software is unrelated to the engine software. Easiest thing to do is to call the dealer and find out if the engine software is up to date.

ok thanks for the info, I am learning my way around this car slowly, What information would I need to give my dealer over the phone to find out if my car's engine software is up to date? Reason I ask because my closest Audi dealer is 70 miles away and don't want to drive all the way there if it is up to date. Thanks guys!

You likely have carbon build up on the valves. This is a common issue with FSI engines and carbon build up on the valves will cause rough starts (mainly on a cold start).
In short, with direct injection (our FSI engines), fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber. Nothing is truly cleaning the intake valves from PCV gunk & blowby. Engines prior to FSI the fuel was sprayed onto the valves (port injection is where fuel enters via the intake valves and thus cleanses them) and that kept them from getting the carbon build up.
I have an 08 A6 and just had the dealership do a manual cleaning of the valves as part of my purchase negotiation. Do a search on carbon build up for FSI engines.

Hook a Vag-Com to it when you start it to follow what going on you could have a misfire that's falling just short of setting the check engine light.
My 3.0 did that, but it set the check engine light. It was a bad valve seal.
I had oil leaking into a cylinder overnight and it ran a little rough until it all burned off. Oil or Coolant leaking into the cylinder will cause what your describing.
I'm not saying that's what it is though, I hope it's a software flash!
