Default 1/4 mile times for chipped cars

I'm curious what everyone is running with chipped cars?

I have never had the A6 to the track and I won't. Getting a good time out of the car means bye bye to the trans and clutch.

I've drag raced for years and owned quite a few different cars. I always felt the car was a 13 second car. I just have the VAST tune but they played a bit with the fueling so I'm running more of a max effort setup.

I had a couple of run ins with a '08 WRX STi and a SRT-4. All on private roads. The SRT I had by a few cars, the STi had me by about 1 car. I also met up with a very disappointed SRT-8 Challenger owner.

If I had a MBC I think I would have been even/beat the STi. Every shift the boost took a crap, with a MBC I should get faster response time. In the upper end I was pulling a bit but not enough to pass. It was a 1/4 car by end of 1st, 1/2 by end of 2nd, nearly a whole car by end of 3rd. Without losing boost if I wanted to shift without lifting I know I would have barely squeeked by but I doubt the clutch will take that.

I didn't launch the car hard, again keeping the clutch in one piece.

Mild 70 degree day...I was pretty impressed that it did as well as it did. We even did the ricer roll and I would be even/pull slightly.

So I think I've confirmed its at least a 13 second car. If I didn't care about the trans its for sure a 13 second car if I could get the clutch to live through a hard launch.

I took it for a few laps around Grattan raceway and at the end of the straight I was only slower by 17mph than I am in my Vette which is a high 11 second car @ 117mph. On the Vette I'm at 137 at the end of the straight, 120 in the A6. Of course in the Vette I'm running race pads and brake very late...the A6 has cheapo pads on it and I was hanging on for the next corner and braking very early. With a confident brake setup I could probably have hit 122-124.

Just wondering where everyone else fell in with chipped cars. I'll do downpipes but I won't do exhaust unless I find something that sounds decent.

110k on the clock but I do have 16" wheels with pretty small tires which keeps the weight down.

Default Way, Way back when I was stock, -->`

I had run a best time of 14.4 @ 94-95 mph (IIRC, you can search the AW forums and see for yourself)

Then I went with a GIAC x and I think my best time was a 13.6 something..

If you search for my posts on AW, you'll see my driving style was mild. I launched at no more than 4400rpm, and with quick slip of the clutch, (never dropped the clutch) and all of my upshifts were closed throttle.

FWIW, my original clutch lasted till 125k, or my second turbo change. At that point I went to AMS stage 5 and an RS4 clutch. I still have the original tranny and all 4 axles are the ones that came from the factory. I have been stage 5 for approx 50k now. (I just turned 174k on Monday)

depends on TIP or 6 speed, add about a second to all times for a TIP, my best at 4000ft altitude, TIP no TIP chip, Stage 3- is 13.78 @ 106mph, 60 foot times are horrible and just kill the entire run. I will let you know what happens with the meth kit turned on and VAST TIP chip installed.

P.S. I am not the best drag driver in the world, an experienced driver may be able to shave another 1/2 second, our local strip is scheduled for demo and is not maintained at all, my buddies stage 3+++ 6 speed ,550chp S4 turns about 12.2@ 119mph

TIP: Low 14's, maybe able to get a few lucky very high 13's
(my 60ft also kill me, off the line start is the bugger) My best 0-60mph was a 5.2 once, then a few 5.4-5.6's but I wouldn't do it too often... wanna keep my tranny in one piece
6 spd would be mid 13's.
APR is a little weaker i think than the VAST tune or even GIAC X

Wow...thats pretty stout for a 4000lb car.

If you can find one in good shape this thing is one helluva performance bargain.

S4's take about 1/4 to 1/2 sec off those A6 times for weight?

That all falls in place to what I think the car is capable of.

Prince at Vast said he's run a best of 13.2 @ 106 on a tip with an aggressive tune, downpipes, and exhaust.

Your buddy with the S4...he needs some 60', thats mid 10 second mph.

true, he is constantly bitching about his poor 60', he is a VAST rep and is always playing with new tunes, when he finds the right one for our altitude, watch out, I don't know about 10's, he's running full interior

125mph is more than enough for 10's at that weight with a 1.5-1.6 60'.

Not sure but does someone make a stutter kit for the 2.7? If he can launch with 9-10lbs of boost, he'll run 10's

Ah...mid 11's...but for 550hp he should be doing 125ish traps even at 4000lbs. I trapped 127mph in my turbo Camaro at 3900lbs....is that 550 at the wheels?

I turned 620 at the wheels but he has way better gearing if he can get the car to move.

A stutter step will help a lot if the drivetrain can take it.
