1.9 TDI Too much bypass pressure????
I have a 2003 1.9 TDI A6 that doesn’t really burn that much oil (it goes from max to min in about 10000miles) but it does seem to "blow" oil via the breather system into the induction system.
I replaced the cam belt recently and the intercooler had oil in it as did the induction pipes from the turbo to the intercooler. Also I get a plume of smoke out the exhaust if I floor the accelerator when driving.
When I remove the oil filler cap with the engine warm and running it does produce some "smoke" out of the filler and spits some oil indicating bypass gasses and crank case pressure. My question is how much is normal?
Should I be worried? Is there another breather that could be blocked. Is the turbo on the way out? Any corrective maintenance or is this to be expected from a TDI with 130k on the clock?
Thanks for any assistance on this one.
