1995 A6 Power Steering Help
I have a 1995 A6 Quattro 2.8 Wagon. The power steering is pouring out of a hose on the top of the engine. This is my first Audi. I got it free for my daughter from her uncle. Everything else is great on the car so I want to fix this. I know I need to get the service manual put until then I was hoping for help in the forum world.
I have attach pics showing that hose(line) and I am in hope for your help.
I looking to find out if anyone else has had this problem and/or how to remove and repair this line.
Thank you in advance
Mike

Where you point at in the third pic is exactly where the sections disconnect. I can't remember the size of the fittings/"nuts", but you need to hold counter on the back section that goes toward the steering rack. You need to slide off just a bit that protecting rubber overlay.
On the front end, you would have to disconnect the line directly from the ps pump - you'll have to remove the coils pack to get it exposed.
As far as "repairing" it, I don't know if you can do that, but you can definitely try to fit in between the "couplings" a ring of rubber (so pretty much acting like a gasket). Otherwise you may need a new line or a hose, depending on what section does leak.
When you put them back together, you'll definitely need to "burp" the system; on the other hand, is a good occasion to freshen it up with new ps fluid and clean the filter inside the reservoir.
