1996 Audi A6 Avant shifting points?

Hello everyone,

I have a 1996 A6 Avant that has recently started "clunking" when it tries to shift up and down. Does anybody know what we need to do to fix this?

I'd check the mounts.

BTW- what is the mileage?
Some description of "clunking" would be helpful.

From:

Check the hangers for the exhaust pipes and muffler. Check the CV joint boots on the axles and propeller shaft. Check the boots on any suspension joints.
The clunking may or may not be coming from the transmision.
