1997 A6 in need of more HP
Hey folks,
I am new to the forum as I am sure you can tell. I was lucky enough to pick up a really nice 1997 C4 Audi A6 2.8 Quattro this past spring and it has been my daily driver ever since. I really love the car, it has a nice look and a lot of room for a car full of "adults". The one downside is its a little sluggish. I am looking to possibly mod her. What mods are out there and easily installable for this car? I am not looking to race this thing by any means but it would nice if it had some kick.
Anyway here are some pics of the car... in case anyone was interested.

The only things you really can do is put a drop in k&n filter and open up the exhaust a little for a gain of about 10-15 hp. Other than that they make supercharger kits for the 2.8L but i don't know if they make them for the old 12V engines but i don't see why not. That would be the best bang for the buck if you can find someone that makes one for it.

Would something like this be effective at all?

NO! That filter has no protection from the engines heat, and thus would likely get HEAT SOAKED during any driving experience beyond say 10 minutes. That will do the opposite of what you want. Trust me, your air filter is not holding back the power of your car. Consider exhaust, ECU mapping (timing), or other similar things before doing an air filter.

That actually makes quite a bit of sense and I never thought of these intakes as actually drawing in hot air... but it makes sense considering where they are. I have been having trouble finding a chip out there for this car. Do you happen to know of company that provides one?

Yeah reaper has the right idea, those type of intake systems are worthless after it starts bringing in hot air. I was telling you to get the drop in style K&N air filter that fits into your stock air box, that keeps the flow of air up and still keeps the air charge somewhat cold.
As for the chip i don't think they make a chip exactly i think he meant to get it tuned using software like Lemiwinks from Revo to adjust timing and fuel mapping to get the maximum horsepower out of the engine after the intake and exhaust has been upgraded.

Hey Guys,
Thanks so much for all the advice and patience. I am sure my questions are a dime a dozen here and taking the time to respond to a noob like me speaks volumes.
Again Thanks.
I will keep you posted as to what I do
