hey guys. I'm looking at purchasing a 1998 a6 2.8 fwd at a car auction online . body and paint pretty decent condition . went to inspect vehicle onsite there is no key and checked the engine oil found nothing according to the oil stick. I'm assuming engine its gone and it will have to be replaced
has any body done an engine replacement on this engine . would like to have an idea what I'm getting my self into. I worked on a 2002 a6 3.0 done timing belt water pump, and much more NEVER done an entire engine thought.. car still running pretty nice my son its driving it right now.. any idea what it takes and labor hours I'm looking at

hey I was driving along and all of sudden the car stop taking the gas and eventually shut off and would not restart. Could that be the fuel pump?

 

To remove the turbos and replace them on my 04 a6 i was quote 10k$. So i would expect an engine replacement to be 5k-7k.No idea about the fuel pump problem. Hope it helps
