You'll need to contact an audi dealer.

Sometimes you can be lucky if a previous owner wrote the code someplace in the car. One common place is in the trunk. Other wise you either get another radio with a code or visit a dealer and give him $75 to $100

You would probably be cheaper off to buy a new/reman. radio for roughly 40$ ... that's what I did.

Don't be cheap man. Just go to the dealer. They will just charge you the hour for getting the code. Will cost $75. Then just never loose the code they give you.

I bought the symphony 2 radio from these guys:

$40 and you have a stereo that works like a new one. I'm glad I did it. Not only did I get the code for less I also got a stereo that worked way better then my 7 year old stereo (no fading, deeper bass, working cassette and not having trouble with lightly scratched cd's).

That $40 radio is for a 2000 Audi -- I don't think it fits his 1998

Well the page states the C5 Audi a6 was built from 1998 - 2004, therefore I figured this radio would be fine - thought you might have to get the symphony 1 instead of 2.
