Not depressing the clutch all the way will slip the clutch just a little bit more, it won't be a signaficant decrease in clutch life. Un-less your shifting only pressing the clutch half way down, which is stupid.

When sometimes I got stuck on a freeway for hours in a crawling traffic, I thank myself for not picking six speed. Depends where you drive and under which conditions. As much as I like manual, I hate when you have to press the clucth 2000 times.

I drove a manual from 2001 until this year. Where I live in Jersey, traffic is as common as "Gotti" boys in the mall, so it was always an adventure.

For feeling connected toand in controlof the car, nothing beats a manual. However, an auto provides you a level of comfort and ease that the manual can't match. In drag racing, auto's are generally the preferred trans because they are consistent.

I bought my car with the auto as my wife may need the car on occasion (something to think about if you may ever be in a situation of needing someone else to drive your car...read drunk). The auto also matches up really well with the turbo as the engine can hold boost much more efficiently between shifts. At the end of the day, a modded tip and a modded mt will be very similar in performance. The difference will be the tip's consisteny.

Also, the A6 is NOT a sports car, not even close. It is a luxury sedan with some ***** that can be modded. Since you can't drive it like a TT or Vette, the manual isn't as much of a necessity and can be more of a liability.

Well, after driving various performance cars over the past 7 years all with manual transmissions, I can certainly tell you that while it's fun, it can get tiresome real quick. The op is only 19 though, so I would say go forthe manual and work on your leg muscles. I just don'tthink it's necessary, or that much more "fun", to have a manual in a 4k pound luxury sedan. Especially since the manual is not more robust or problem free than the auto.

Well i've always leaned more towards manual, and my last two cars have been, because i love to race and be in control of the car. However my thoughts are that with stg 3, it doesnt really matter because it's still going to stomp most everything on the road. I drive mostly in off traffic times so that's not so much an issue. I don't let people drive my car when I'm drunk just because it's my baby, I'd rather sleep wherever i am, find a ride, or walk to a bus stop lol. However such activities as road head are much harder in manuals. It's so hard to shift. Haha but anyway that's my dilema is it's nice to have the ease and comfort of an auto, but it's also more fun and in control to have a manual.
