Default need help 2000 A6 2.7t tire size

i bought the a8 19in rims by 8.5 what is the biggest tire size i can put on it with out having it rub i wanted to do 245 40 19 will that fit? i rather stay away from spacers but if i have to what will be good 1s and how many mm? whats the biggest i can do with spacers and biggest i can do without spacers

You may have a hard time fitting those wheels. The inner clearance is reduced more than 20 mm. That will definitely rub against the bearing housing.

FYI, I just got a set of 18s with 43mm offset that are 8 inches wide. The tires are 235 40 18s. I am running 10mm spacers in the front. The minimum that I could have gotten away was probably 5 mm. In theory, your 8.5 inch x ET45 adds about 8mm to the inside compared to my 8 inch x ET43, meaning you would have to run minimum of 13mm spacers. Not to mention that it will stick out of the fender well a bit.

I didn't have any issues with the rear wheels, but you may need to check that.

As for the tire size, 245 35 19 maybe a better option as far as the size is concerned for the speedometer calibration. But 35 series tires may ride pretty rough.
