Question 2000 A6 Avant TDI fuel consumption

Hello, I've finally got my first Audi. It's a 2000 year 2.5 TDI Tipronic Avant (not quattro) with 150hp.

So we had our first long trip with the car, just 2 people on the car with no luggage at all. all weight = 150 kgs.

After 710 kms of driving, I got 7.2 liters / 100 km, or 32.67 MPG. I've seen same type cars doing better, so I'm now trying to figure out what may be wrong with the car.

Which parts should I check ? Heard about the MAF sensor or some temperature sensor to be checked first. And about the temperature there's something I need to mention. Even after driving 2-3 hours, both temperature dials on the dashboard are still at min (60 degrees or so), but after getting stuck in the traffic, the upper dial went to some 70 75 degrees. So there's definitely something wrong with some temperature sensors, but can that also lead to the high fuel consumption ?

Regards
