2000 A6 mileage computer calibration
hi gents,
is there a way to put offsets into the mileage calculation to bring the trip computer mpg and therefore range figures in line with reality? searching the internet I found some info on doing this for beemers and also early audis but nothing on these models.

My gas mileage computeris wildly optimistic when full but closer to accurate when it goes below 1/4 tank. It has registered as much as 510 miles/tank but reality is pretty much 380-400 (for highway driving). So even -15% won't correct it. But I would be interested in knowing if the vagcom reset actually works as noted above.
had a look at the vagcom website, didn't appear to mention anything for the trip computer, will try dropping them a line. Quote from my sister who recently ran out of petrol on a french autoroute:
"Tell them if you're doing 95mph on the motorway with a fully laden motor + roof box and the computer says it can do another 25 miles it is definitely LYING."
she blames the topbox, but since it is a rolling calculation and she'd had it on there all through france and most of the way back, it should have already taken that into account, right?
