Default 2000 A6 rear brake upgrade

I have a 2000 A6 2.7T 6 speed and have a 6 piston brake upgrade for the front.

I need something easy and NOT expensive fro the rear. A8 rotors and calipers have been suggested but I'm not sure

I would love to put 4 piston calipers and hi perf pads on new dimpled rotors (stock size) but the adapters are an issue

Does anybody have any ideas????

HELP!!!!!!

I am not trying to be doubtful, but I have to ask... Why do you want to upgrade rear brakes?

First, I have a Stasis 6 piston caliper, 14" rotor set up for the front which won't get installed until the spring. I want a better balanced set up for the rear.

Even spirited road use gives me brake fade and my rear brakes need replacement anyway. The rears are a reasonable (255mm) rotors and a small single piston caliper: pretty basic for a fairly high performance car [GIAC ecu upgrade to 335hp]

I would say 14 is overkill, but whatever floats your boat. With that said, be sure to get street performance pads. Not race pads... Race pads will kill you.

I believe the most cost effective way is to go with a set of A8 rear set up. It was the same set up on an A6 with 4.2. You would need new rotors, calipers and carriers. Unless you find a set at a junk yard, you are probably looking around $600.

I believe that the A6 4.2 HAS the same brake set up at the A6 2.7T anyway....

If this is true, then there is minimal or no difference in these brakes. Incidently, 14" might be over large but they are what comes with the Stasis/Alcon set up: I still think that the single piston rear caliper is too small.

I might just find a Porsche/Brembo rear four piston caliper and design a mount: the A8 can be had with quite large rotors, or so I've been told....

Check out ECStuning. They carry standard A8 calipers, rotors and brackets. A8 is still single piston caliper design even with a larger rotor.
