2001 4.2 (37K mi) Verses 2002 4.2 (50K mi)
Hi Everyone,
It's my virgin post and yes I wish it were me giving information rather than asking for it.
Heres goes short and sweet...I'm in a decision bind:
Excellent Condition: 2001 A6 4.2, 37,000 miles, no nav but all other options including sport + Conveinence, $22500.00 Out the door price done. (no warranty)
Excellent Condition: 2002 A6 4.2, 50,000 miles, Nav, Sport pkg (wheels and seats), folding mirrors, 23500. (maybe 23000 if I kick hard one more time...no warranty)
THE QUESTION: IS 50,000 miles too many and should it sway me to buy the 2001 car?
I plan on using synthetic in all orafices once I get one of them and I plan on driving a ton of miles over the next few years.
It would be great if a few of the resident Audi experts could speak up and break my decision logjam.... I like the 2002 with the quad exhaust and all the things that make the 2002 different than the 2001. BUT then again I can add the quad exhaust and catch the 2001 up to the 02 pretty easily....or save my money and enjoy the dual exhaust just the way they were intended in 2001 :-) I've heard stories of 200K miles.. but the dealers were the ones telling me...any confirmation that these sweet cars will hold together that well?
Please give me some feedback...

Both years are great cars but why not go with the newer one, especially if it has all the options? That price is awesome. I got my 2001 4.2 Quattro for 32,000! That was the blue book, so I'm not sure how your getting it for so cheap. Awesome deal.
yeah. i would go with the newer one also. milage can somtimes be a plus, especially on these cars. A lot of the time it means that they may have gone through the querks and maintenance, ready for the long hall.
especially if it has more features!!
