2001 A6 2.4 Multitronic - The Good and Bad
Hey All,
As you can see I am new here. Browsed through the 1st 10 pages on the A6 sub-forum and did not find anything as specific as I want.
If you don't mind giving me some info on the above mentioned car I would really appreciate it. I can buy it with 106000km on the clock and it has a 2 year 40000km maintenance plan included.
I am specifically interested in performance, maintenance, reliability and the multitronic(CVT) gearbox as well as the 2.4 engine.
If you know of another post specifically like this one then pls feel free to just point the way.
I basically am worried that the gearbox and car in general may start costing a couple of grand a month as soon as the freeway plan is finished. (This could happen with any make or type of car but what is the overall consensus of this one?)
Thanks again.

OK I did not manage to get the Multitronic as the person trading it in fell through on his deal. I instead got the 2001 A6 2.4 Tiptronic with 98000km on the clock and I got an extended motorplan to 80000km.
I have driven the car quite a bit and it is awesome (moving up from a '97 Opel 160i kadett) the only complaint I have so far is that I only seem to get around 450km to a tank (62litres at top up). I don't know what this is in mile mpg but it works out to around 14l/100km which is a drastic fuel consumption when I am used to around 8l/100km.
The interior quality is superb and not even the 2004 A4 1.9tdi that I have as a loan car can compare.
Heres to at least 4 years of happy trouble free driving (And no tiptronic trouble)
