2001 A6 2.7 - single temp override control possible?
While I like having the 2 different interior temperature controls (driver/passenger), since most of my driving is by my lonesome, I find it a nuisance to have to set both the driver side and passenger side interior temps each time I want to change the interior temperature setting.
Is there a way to override the dual temp control so that when I set the driver side temp the passenger side automatically changes to the same number?
I don't want to do this on a permanent basis; just to be able to switch back and forth between dual temp control and single temp control depending on whether I have passengers.

I'm not sure about your model year buy my 2006 A6 allows the synchronization of temp control by pressing the driver side's temp control for a few seconds. I hope yours has the same feature.
I'm happy to hear that Audi has addressed this issue, but, I'm guessing that is a feature that isn't found on my 2001 model because my owners manual makes no reference to it.
On the other hand, I'll certainly try your suggestion. Can't hurt.
Which button exactly on your driver side temp control (+ or - buttons, auto, recirc or ?) are you pressing for a few seconds and what happens on your temp display to indicate that driver and passenger side temps are now synchronized by just adjusting the driver temp setting up or down?
I've included a pic of my system below.

You have a totally different setup compared to the 05+ models
But you can do the same thing just as easy, i you hold the AUTO button on the drivers side it will make the pass side the same, and it works the opposite way
Im sure this is in the owners manual, that is if you have it?

You say, "Hold the AUTO button on the driver's side". I included a pic above of my setup. The only AUTO button is dead centre in the car and I tried holding it , holding it and both + buttons, holding it and both - buttons and it still would not synchronize.
I have seen pics of other systems ('02 A4) where there were 2 AUTO buttons, one on each side, but, that is not what we're dealing with here.
PLease confirm that you have the same system as I've shown in the pic above and that you are in fact, able to synchronize the passenger temp setting with the driver side setting by simply adjusting the driver side temp setting and if you are able to do this, please list exactly what steps you followed in order to achieve this. Thanks.
and what part of "but you can do the same thing just as easy" did you not understand?
Look, I indicated in the subject line of my post that I'm dealing with an '01 A6 2.7 and even showed a picture of my climate control system. I asked for help to synchronize both the driver and passenger temp setting ON MY CAR.
What part of that don't you understand?

I will report back here if anyone is able to come up with a successful method. Thus far, a few people have claimed they have been able to synchronize the 2 sides on a '98 - '04 model A6, but, as yet, nobody has posted a method that stands up to test scrutiny.
