Default 2001 A6 vs. F150

Needless to say the Audi lost. I am looking for some opinions on what to do with the aftermath, for I am not well versed in the ways of the Audi (only had it a few months).

The details: 2001 A6 Waggon currently sporting a hole in the front bumper, a bumper support pushed about 2" to the drivers side, bumper guide on passenger side is smashed, an annihilated passenger side fender, a passenger side headlight with 2 top tabs broken, a drives side fender that is also a bit pushed out due to the bumper skin, a virtually unscathed hood, and no air bag deployment (woohoo).

Here are my questions:

1. Can I use any bumper skin or do I have to have all the supporting pieces that go with that skin (ie supports, headlights) and same goes for supports and shocks (interchangable).

2. Can I get any other headlights and transfer the auto leveling and hid parts over to the new housings or should/could I repair the tabs.

3. Is there any place you recommend for getting any of the pieces I will need to make my car beautiful again?

4. Should I say screw it and let someone else fix it.

Thanks in advance for the input!

Do you have a comprehensive insurance? If so, I say someone else fix it. If both fenders are pushed in, there may be some frame damage. These things have unibody with so called crumple zone. The crumple zone is designed to crumple even at low impact speed. It is pretty hard to determine the nature of the damage unless you are an experienced body shop guy.

You maybe able to find some used parts from Shokan if you are going that route.

I have full coverage. I hit on the passenger side corner hense that fender is shot and it pushed the bumper supports over resulting in the drivers side fender being pushed out a bit. I am not a body shop guy so my opinion is not valid but it was a glancing hit (at 15mph into a tire) which leads me to believe there is not any structural damage. It didn't even crack the headlight. What/where is shokan?

Your car will be a complete loss to the insurance in my opinion. Two years ago I got into what looked like a minor fender bender. See attacked photo. What you can't see is all the hidden damage behind the bumper. The bumper was pushed sideways and bent all the stuff behind it. Including breaking the headlight tabs. Total bill was something like 6k. Now this proves two things, Audis are expensive to fix, and some body shops charge more than others. I could have had the work done for less, but I took it to the best body shop in the metro.

Here is the repair bill, note most of the expense came from new parts, there were no used parts available in my area at the time that could be used, or would take too long to receive.

Wow...with my car you cn see all the damage behind the bumper because there is a hole ripped out of it! If that was a total loss then I am sure I am well on my way there. It was bad enough that I had to look for the fog light it was smooshed back in there so far, your car was narry a scratch in comparison. Thanks for all the reply's. I should be getting it apprised tomorrow. Who did your appraisal, dealer or a guy come to look at the car? I have a choice of who will look, wana make sure I will get the best amount for the damage.

Yeah my car was hit from behind at a stop a few months back. The body shop guy told me that there really isn't any used or aftermarket parts for our cars. It was all Audi direct. Mine was Avant and they had to replace the deck lid, bumper and one muffler. It was about $4k just for that.

I had 3 estimates done: 1500.00(Raymonds), 1700.00 and 1400.00. The bodyshop I went with Raymonds said they were shocked at all the damage hidden when they did the estimate, hence 6k total bill.

Here is a 3k bill when a coworker backed into my car this summer. what is missing is the scratched door mirror. 3k was the total with rental car for 1.5 weeks. Needed fender, blinker, mirror repaint, fix wheel, some box behind the fender, door seal and some other crap.

For what it's worth, my body shop was able to locate used door skins for my daughter's A4 last fall. They initially did not think parts would be available, priced right, or in good shape but we were pleasantly surprised. Your body shop can do a search of the "junk" yards.

And search the scrap yards they will, but I also noticed when I ended up in the ditch I took out one of the mufflers and dented the rear passenger side quarter panel (with many scratches). Now I am wondering if they do total it what I should buy next...really like the luxury and awd but the v6 really isn't worth the power for the gas milage (21.6 avg city/hwy). What would you all get for about 6k?
