Post 2002 2.7T throttle lag

It's annoying. It seems like from reading other posts that the computer attempts to guess your driving style and whatnot and it gets screwed sometimes. Lately i will slowly press the gas down from a stop and about 1/5th of the way down it will catch and jerk forward. Same issues goes for accelerating, it takes time.

The car was recently at a certified audi mechanic for some issues with my key remote. I get it back and it works great. Then a couple of the days in it gets worse like I stated above. Now i'm stuck.

I was first thinking short term to unplug the battery for a couple minutes, leave it on "on" for a minute after reconnecting the battery, then cranking it up. It seems this will make sense because it will reset all the settings stored in the ecu. Now the whole battery unplugging seems annoying so I decided to first try removing the ECU fuse, I got to remove it and put it back in this morning in a safeway parking lot. I tried pulling it out by hand and it didn't come out and it just moved back and forth.

1) Would it be alright to pull the fuse out with needle nose pliers? Or should the fuse normally come out by hand?

2) Is the throttle controlled by Drive By Wire (engines without a physical cable connecting the gas pedal to the throttle body)

2) Will this even fix the throttle response for a short period?

3)If not, what will and what will fix it permanently?

Thanks you guys, I'm a new owner and have had my a6 for about a month and I love it so far. Good first car.

Is your car TIP or 6MT, if it's TIP you can recode the trans module to always be in sport mode, it allows you to hold first until redline, as well as a much more agressive acceleration. Yes these cars are DBW

Be careful disconnecting the battery. Your radio (Bose) may think it is being stolen and lock. You need the secret code to unlock it, otherwise a trip to the dealer and a lot of $$$.

It sounds like you might be having problems with your transmission. Does the engine speed up before it "catches"?

If it does, look into the transmission... if not look into the ECU and throttle input. (From the petal). Either way you'll need a VAG Com.

Sounds like transmission problems. I would not drive it until you can get it checked. Could be rather simple... like low fluid. Running it with low fluid could damage the transmission. (BIG $$$) Too bad they designed it to be so difficult to check the level. Checking the codes should give you an idea of what is wrong. Most car parts stores (Like Auto Zone) will pull the codes for free... with a generic reader. (May not give you the full picture.)

I got a generic code reader the a couple days ago and it didn't pull anything. Well I will spend a lot of time this weekend checking it out. Ill post what I find out then.
