2003 A6 Noise While Turning
Hello everyone!
Just picked up an '03 A6 with close to 47K on it. When I am makeing a left or right turn starting from slow speed, I get a rumble/grind/binding noise. Any clue before I head to the dealer?
Thanks!

Could be that the steering gaiter alias CV boot has perished and the universal joit has dried out. Look on the inside of the wheel and if there is a lot of black grease, then thats your problem. you will need a new CV joint and boot. I ca be done yourself id you are a competent at mechanics.
Shabaz has a good point. I just repaired my outer CV boots becasue they were torn. Indy told me thatth ejoints were in good shape. There was plenty of grease and he even repacked them. I still have that noise. I only notice it on concrete in my parking garage at work. When I turn hard left or right at slow speeds there is a slight binding noise. Dealer told me that is was the quattro system. Basically at that speed all 4 wheels have power unlike at high speeds when the ESP kicks in. Long story short...A slight noise/grab is normal for these cars.
Because my Indy takes the extra time to do things right. Since the CV was torn there was some water dirt and other junk in the grease and he took a preventative measure and repacked the joint. Seems a logical step if you ask me.
