2004 A6 HID Headlight problem
Hello, I have a little issue that's bothering me and hope someone might have an answer for me. Just recently bought my 2004 A6 S-line (106k miles) with factory Xenons. I've noticed two different issues:
1. The driver's side lamp: during the auto-leveling sequence when you start the car, the light will occasionally (like 40-50% of the time) will dip down but not come back up, or come partly up. Sounds like a motor issue and I might have to replace (the whole housing??)
2. The light temperature of the two Xenons is not the same. The passenger side seems a little yellow while the driver's side is white. Possibly a previous owner replaced the wrong temp, or should I replace both bulbs (I wouldn't replace just one...)? If replacing the bulbs is in order, is this a fairly straight-forward procedure (I've replaced regular bulbs plenty with previous cars, and aware of preventing skin-contact on the bulbs).
Oh, and there are no warnings popping up in the car computer.
Thanks for any advice....
Chris

It is not required to replace the entire housing. I would suggest you to replace both the bulbs so that the lighting effect remains same for both driver side and passenger side. However, if you want to replace only one, better go for an OEM part to ensure original lighting effect. As far as replacing is concerned, it is fairly easy to replace the bulbs in Audi. You just need to remove the cover and then disconnect the headlamp and the retaining ring. With this done, you can easily remove the bulb by turning it counterclockwise.
