Default 2004 a6 starting problem

Hi all I have an Audi a6 2004 3.0L lately it has been having problems starting maybe someone can help?
It cranks but doesn't start all the dashboard lights and radio etc. Work.
I recently moved from a cold climate and it worked perfectly fine until I got to a hot climate(if matters).recently got the battery and oil changed for the first few days it started every time! Now back to the step on the gas for about 20 seconds then it makes a slow cranking noise and rpms go up and down until I put it in reverse the car drives perfectly fine! Also the epc and check engine light comes on every so often after it starts I really don't wanna take her to the dealership 2 hours away! Any help? Thanks you

Take it to an Autozone or equivalent and have them pull the codes -- post here. Low cranking until it starts? RPMs up and down when trying to start or after starting?

The key is that the new battery solved the problem, this means that you may have a parasitic drain on the battery. Put an ammeter between the positive (red) cable and positive battery terminal and see how many amps the car draws at rest. It should not be much over 50mA. If it is, start pulling fuses (and replacing them after) until the meter drops, and start looking at this circuit to see what is wrong. Don't try to start the car with the ammeter in the circuit!
