2009 A6 3.0T - to buy or not to buy?
Hi,
The local Audi dealership is offering a 2009 A6 3.0T for sale. It's Audi certified and has less than 30K miles.
I like the car and can handle the asking price. My concern is reliability and on-going maintenance costs.
What is your advise: How reliable are these cars and will I have to spend a fortune to keep the car running?
Thanks for your insights
Michael

Wilkommen to the forums!
I guess a lot of the question comes down to how good is the CPO warranty. If it appears that the warranty will last you for about as long as you care to keep the car, or at least have it paid off, that will insure you against loss from mechanical malfunction/defect.
maintenance is the key to assuring that your car will last a long time. this is true of any car. Audi maintenance is just a tad more expensive, usually because you are paying higher labor rates for a "specialist". have maintenance performed by a non-specialist (ie: local quick lube center) is typically not a good idea.
if you like the car, can swing the payments, and allow for the required maintenance costs the car should last you quite a while without "costing a fortune". neglecting the maintenance is where most folks run into issues with outrageous repair costs.
good luck

Thanks.
The Audi CPO warranty covers all the major stuff for 2 years, but doesn't cover the audio and navigation electronics.
I plan to keep this car for long, so long term reliability is my concern. After all warranty expires, how reliable will an Audi A6 be? Will be comparable to a Lexus for example?
Thanks for your insights

But it will be more fun to drive than a typical Lexus sedan, is better looking, and goes like heck in the snow with quattro. On the downside, there are a lot of accessories and features and computer controlled thingies that eventually fail. If you treat it gently, both controls and when driving, I think it can last a long time. I just turned 195k on my A6 last night and it still is running oem battery, shocks, and turbos!! Yes, the headlight washers no longer work and the temperature insists on reading celsius, but the driving experience is still awesome.
