Default 2011 a6 s line avant

Hi I'm Bob from wallington in surrey, I've a 2011 a6 s line avant, auto. At a recent audi service I was told my rear footwell illumination light was missing and the lead had been cut. Audi quoted £187 for a replacement. I thought I'd ask what's involved in fitting a unit. I'm assuming it's mounted on the underside of the driver's seat. A replacement unit is only around £15 so I guess there's more to it then.
Would welcome any advice as to precise location and what's involved doing the job myself, many thanks Bob

I just bought the 2011 sedan. I noticed that the light under the passenger seat was loose and hanging by the wires. I simply just pushed it up into place. I think it would be really easy to replace your missing light providing you still have enough wire left to connect to a new unit. If not, it would get a lot trickier.

Hi I found the cut lead and decided to attempt the repair myself. I trimmed the cover and wires back and checked with a meter 12 volts appeared when door open and zero when shut. ordered a light and connector from Ebay for £3.50 and have just finished fitting the unit. All works fine, saved £184, really pleased,
