Default 2012 A6 Check Engine Light

I have had my car for almost 2 months now. This morning on my drive to work, my check engine light came on.

The car ran fine, no sign of trouble in operation. I turned the engine off and let it set for ~30 seconds after arriving at work. I restarted it to see if turning it off and then on, again, may have "reset" things. CEL still came on.

The only unusually thing I did was when I first started it at home, I turned it off almost immediately because I forgot to put the recycle bin out for pickup and did not want to leave the car running while I did that.

Fuel filler cap appears to be on correctly, too, but you never know.

The owner's manual says to take the car to the dealer to have the codes checked. I thought I would check here in case others might have ideas to pass on to me before I get to the dealer.

Same issue happened with me at 62.5k miles. I see no leaks, no other mechanical issues. Have you figured out what the issue is? I may take to autozone to scan for codes.

The dealer's initial diagnosis was a bad "combi" valve on the emissions control system. It was replaced and the remainder of the testing was completed showing that there was a plug or blockage in the lines of the system. They cleaned them out and things are now OK.

Dealer mentioned that Audi has extended the warranty on the system to 10 yrs/100K miles.

Thanks seems simple. How long was it in the shop and did you incur any other fees if it was covered by warranty?

In the shop for 3 days, free loaner and no charges other than gas for the loaner.

A happy ending at a dealership. Nice to read, for a change.
