4.2 Check Engine Light Issues (ECU?)
i am a new frustrated owner of a 00 4.2 with 67K miles. the car from the previous owner has been dealer maintained and is in good condition. but, i now get a intermitent check engine light. my friend, who is a mechanic, has a hand held snap-on scanner and is getting codes indicating that the car is running too lean, load regisration (?), MAF sensor, and ECU. the strange thing is that the car runs absolutely fine. the previous owner had issues with the gas cap and was told by the audi dealer that the cap was not being tightened enough. this would sometimes lead to the check engine light to come on. obiviously not the problem since i bought a new auid cap. before i start having the sensors changed, what i assume is very expensive, does anyone have any good ideas? especially strange since the car runs well! i would think that those issues would make the car run rough.
any suggestions?

RE: 4.2 Check Engine Light Issues (ECU?)
You need to find somebody near you (a good Audi garage is one option) who has a VAG COM that you can connect to the car's computer to download the error codes that are being generated as a part of the ECU errors. These coes will translate the generic "ECU" codes into something more specific that you can than tackle.
