Default 4.2 Timing Belt Replacment costs

Can anyone tell me there isa decent manual on the market that shows how to replace the timing belt and miscellaneous rollers/tensioners, etc for a 4.2? The DIY site shows how to on a 2.8, maybe that is as close as I can get. My local dealer has not been able to help me with a manual.

I have an estimate for the belt replacement from the stealer for $878 in parts (cambelt, water pump, t-stat and o-ring, coolant, tensioner, roller. serp belt and r-roller). Labor is $9.2 hours ($864)to do the work. I know once they get into it there will be other recommendations and additional costs such as crank seals and who knows what else. I had the same work done previously on an '01 A6 and it cost me hundreds more at an indie. My '02 A6 just turned 99K this week so I know this work is due. I am not sure I have the time and all the right tools (as recommend on the BLAUfergnügen web site)to do the work myself. Are specialty tools really necessary, because Blau says they no longer rent them?Blau price for the timing belt replacement kit is $589 + $$hipping to Alaska and includes more items than in the stealer's estimate. I would sure like to save some bucks so I can keep affording to put premium in my A6. Does the stealer labor estimate seem out of line?

I also have 900 miles left on the Audi assured warranty. Any recommendations for inspection work to determine any final mechanical/electrical warranty issues that are not necessarily evident?
Thanks much for any commments.
