Default 4.2L Timing Belt

I'm sure most of you looked at the name of this thread and didn't even want to open it because of it. lol buttttttt it's better then it sounds, I'm not doing it myself. lol I have a 2000 Audi A6 4.2L and WAS concidering doing the timing belt myself but after a little research I decided not to . Annnyway, I want to buy all the parts myself before sending it to the garage just to TRY and save me a couple bucks, what all do I need to get? Timing belt, auto tentioner?, pullys? I have no idea what to expect, I've done timing belts on 4 cylinder engines but this is no 4 cylinder. If anyone knows what all SHOULD be replaced during timing belt replacement that would be very appriciated information. Thanks guys!

You can get an idea what you need by looking for your particular engine code. It looks like if wanting to change it at the same time, you may have to buy the drive belt separately (eventually a new tensioner for it, too).

just buy the whole timing belt kit from ecstuning.com. That is the best deal with very good quality parts.

I got my kit from www.blaufergnugen.com plus the special tools kit rental for another $35. If you have the Bentley manual and some time, this isn't as bad as it seems. Just don't take it on if you don't have time. I don't think I would take it to someone who hasn't done it before, and I know that my Audi dealer charges $1800 (water pump, tensioners, etc) for the job. "Service Position" makes it a lot easier to get to everything and I figure that if I can do it, anyone can do it.
