I HAVE 4 NEW TIRES (FREE) SIZED P205/70R15 THAT I WOULD LIKE PUT ON MY A6. CURRENT TIRES ARE P19565R15. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON IF THIS IS OK TO DO?

Hi there. I don't know what you know about tires so sorry if I'm telling you something you already know
The first numbers tell you the width of the tire in metric millimeters. So your new tires are a little wider (10mm or about 3/8") the next number is the percentage of the width in reference to the depth of the tire, so a 195 65 tire has a 126.75mm wall depth (195 devide by 100 x 65) if you do this calculation then you will see that your new tires are taller. This will negatively affect your handling and will probably throw out your speedometer too.
Someone else please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm not heard that one but I suppose putting larger diameter tires could put a little more strain on the tranny, but nothing so dire as to cause failure. I would just stick with the manufacture stated tire size in standard rims. Aftermarket rims that use low profile tires may be wider for more dry weather grip but the overall diameter will still be the same as the original spec tires.

 

Your speedometer will read about 5% too slow, so at 60mph you will actually be doing 63.2mph.
