Default 97 A6 central locking problem

I need some help from an expert. I have a 1997 A6 Avant 2.8 Quattro. The remote locking and the buttons in the car don't work anymore. I ASSUME (?) it may be the central locking pump. I checked all the fuses and are OK.

First where is the darn pump? What is the procedure? I was planning (when I find the pump!) to check to see it is getting power, then see if it is making pressure (or does it make vacume?). Is that a good plan?

Any and all help apreciated!

The locks are electronic. There is no pump. You need to take the car to a mechanic.
